29 September 2012 - League- away
Myrtle C knew they had a  tough game on their hands this afternoon, away at Wayside in Harrogate, in  the last game of the season, and so it proved, they went down 24-6, with  only two winners in Denise Kelt and Mike Wilson.
Denise had a wonderful  game giving her opponent no quarter in winning  comfortably to 8, and Mike  Wilson came through at the business end of his game, winning to 18.  However it could have been so much closer had Peggy Hardacre, Dave Earl,  and Malcolm Waite won their tight games, they just lost out to 18, 19, and  19, respectively.
In a quick resume of the  season, we had a difficult start, with most of us not adapting too well to  the higher standard of bowling in the third division, but from mid July  onwards when things were looking grim, we came together as a team with a  single purpose in mind, that of maintaining our division 3 status . To this  end we achieved our objective with a little spare, thanks to some  wonderful back to wall bowling, for which I would like to thank you all.  May I wish you all, a warm winter (ha ha) and I look forward to seeing you  all next season.

22 September 2012 - League- away
Myrtle C secured their  place in Division 3 for next season by gaining 9 valuable points against  second in the table, and very experienced Starbeck in the park this  afternoon.
We all new that this would  be a tough game, and so it proved, with just three winners for Myrtle,  against the seven for Starbeck.
The sweep winner was  Denise Kelt who had a great game, winning to 10, as did David Earl, in  winning to 11, Mike Wilson was the only other winner, winning a tight game  at the business end of his game to 18.
However as it turned out  the 9 points gained points was enough, so next weeks game at Wayside is  one that we can now all enjoy in the knowledge that the job  is done. Well  done to all who have bowled in the C team this season.

 15 September 2012 - League- away
Myrtle C had tremendous win  against one of their nearest foes in the battle against relegation this  afternoon at Yeadon Tarnfield, winning 24-6 with eight winners.
Everyone bowled really well,  EVERYONE. But for me top of the shop must go to David Earl, who bowled with  his “Panzer” precision accuracy to win to eight, while Denise Kelt won to  eleven against an opponent who has not lost all season on her home green.  With three out of the first four winners, we were off to a good start, and  the only one to miss out in the first four was Peggy Hardacre, and she only  lost to all but. Carol Royston continued the trend despite having an  accident in her car on the way to the game, by winning to eleven. Jack  Balmforth won to ten, followed by Tony Allen to thirteen, and with Mike  Wilson managed to scrap home in a tight game to all but, it rounded off a  great afternoon for the team. And now we hope it will give the team some  breathing space in the battle against relegation.

1 September 2012 - League- home
Myrtle C won their crucial  match against Baildon B in the Park this afternoon 19-11, despite the added  volume level!!!
With six winners to four,  there were some quite remarkable games played out, with a number of bowlers  coming back to win or go very close it. Malcolm Waite started proceedings by  coming back from 1-9 down to win 21-11with some well controlled bowling.  Ralph Norton just lost out 21-19 after being 13-5 down. Peggy Hardacre was  0-8,  down and she eventually pulled it back in  a real nip and tuck game to  win 21-19, Christine Pollard yet another late starter was 1-8 down and she  came back to win 21-15, Mike Wilson was 2-7 down and he ran out to win 21-7.
David Earl in at number 10  won a real dog fight of a game 21-18.
Dave Shaw, in at short  notice gained a very creditable 15 for the team, as did Carol Royston with a  valuable 14. But leaving the best till last, top of the shop for me on the  day was the 21-7 win by Brenda Minney against a very experienced Betty Lee,  a truly magnificent performance in her first season of bowling.

4  August 2012 - League- home
MPC got back to winning ways yesterday in their re-arranged fixture  against Dacre, in the Park. With six winners to four, the match was won  19-11.
Ken Pollard got proceedings of to a great start with a 21-6 win, shortly  followed by Peggy Hardacre making her return to the team, with a 21-12  win.
With Ralph Norton also making his return to the team after serious  surgery he was un-lucky to go down 21-20. So with two winners and one  down to allbut we were off to a good start.
Brenda Minney and Malcolm Waite continued the trend with great wins to  17 and 11 respectively. Denise Kelt in at no8 had another great win to  10, and with Jack Balmforth just going down to 19 at the business end of  his game. And with Colin Watkin rounding proceedings of with a great win  to 15 a good team day was had.
With no match next Sat and a "Double Header" the following Sat (18th)and  Sun (19th) we hope we can continue to pull away from the bottom of the  league.

21 July 2012 - League- away
We always knew that we would be up against it at  Yeadon and this proved to be the case. We had four winners"David Earl,  Denise Kelt, Colin Watkins and Malcolm Waite. Malcolm had a very exciting  game, keeping his head and winning to all but after being 17-9 down.
Everyone did their best but we were playing a strong  team"even Jim Kelly found it hard playing against Michael Burnett who was  in storming form. There is no game next week so we will relax and regroup  ready for Dacre Banks on the 4th August.

7  July 2012 - League- away
Myrtle travelled to Idle today and came away with a  15-15 draw which is an improvement on results of late. David Earl was the  star of the show winning to 3 and Jim Kelly, Tony Allen and Ken Pollard  all had good wins. Colin Watkin had a hard fought match but lost out to  18.
We hope that a home match next week can gain us some  more valuable  points.

 30 June 2012 - League- away
Myrtle Park C v Wayside (home)
Myrtle C entertained Wayside on Saturday in the hope  of coming out of their prolonged slump in form, however it was not to be  as we went down 20-10, with four winners, one of whom was Dave Shaw, so I  must congratulate him on his first victory for the C team. Dave won 21-19,  Jack Balmforth, Ken Pollard, and Irene Bird were the other winners winning  to 15,17. and 19 respectively.
Denise Kelt on her return from her holidays was  unlucky to just  loose 21-20, Christine Pollard came back well to claim 17  points, and Malcolm Waite bowled well to score 15 which does not reflect a  true picture of his game.
Some changes are afoot in the very near future to  help keep the C team in the third Division, whereby we exchange some of  our bowlers for some from the B team. This practice will start this  weekend, and will go on for as long as possible to help establish the C  team™s position in the third Division.

 23 June 2012 - League- away
Myrtle Park C v Baildon B (away)
Myrtle C travelled to Baildon yesterday to try to  turn around the recent bad form that seems to plaguing the side at the  moment, it was an improvement but alas we went down 22-8.
With three winners in Irene Bird, Tony Allen and Mike  Wilson, top marks must go to Irene, who had a terrific fight back from  15-5 down to win to 17. Ken Pollard and Malcolm Waite had good games only  going down at the business end of their matches 19 and 18 respectively.  Brenda Minney had another dogged game coming back from 11 nil down to end  up with a very creditable 15. But with four bowlers gaining single figures  it was always going to be a struggle.
In fairness to all, Baildon bowlers bowled their  green very well, and I would suspect that very few teams come away with  winning margins.
So let's looks forward to a continuing improvement  next week in our match at home to Wayside. All is not yet lost with the  recent slump in form, as the season comes only to its halfway mark on  Saturday.

Myrtle Park C v Starbeck (away)
Myrtle C travelled to Starbeck on Saturday in the  hope, if not of winning, then attaining a few points, alas it was not to  be as we went down 28-2, a score which on reflection does not perhaps  reflect the overall game. However we lost to a team that knew a good home  green well, so now we look forward to our next challenge at home to  Tarnfield in two weeks time.

 25 May 2012 - League- home
Myrtle Park C v Shipley B (home)
Myrtle C faced a very experienced Shipley B team in  the Park yesterday, and unfortunately came up against a team on top of  their game, losing all ten matches to record their worst result for some  time 29-1.
With a number of absentees, Dave Shaw made his debut  for the C team along with Maureen Rushworth, making her seasonal debut,  not the best time to be playing in your first match of the season, against  such a strong side, both unfortunately, went down to single figures as did  Geoff Holland. The rest of us faired little better with Malcolm Waite  coming closest to a win with 19. We then had three on 17, Denise Kelt,  Carol Royston, and a really gritty performance from Sue Cook, playing only  her second game to notch up 17. Brenda Minney also playing just her second  game played really well to score 13 against a the vastly experienced Derek  Overall.
Thanks to Sue, Dave and Maureen for stepping into the  breach at short notice, hopefully we will all fair better next time out.

Myrtle C were back in action again yesterday after  their three week layoff, and came home from Grove Hill with a fabulous  26-4 win with eight winners.
With great wins to single figures were Mat Dickerson,  Denise Kelt, and Malcolm Waite, to 9, 6, and 7 respectively.
The other five winners were Tony Allen to 13,  Christine Pollard on her first game of the season with us, won brilliantly  to 19, Ken Pollard won to 14, Carol Royston, coming from 10-4 down to win  to 14, and last but not least a very impressive C team debut from Brenda  Minney. On a very tricky green,( as I was later to find out for myself,)  Brenda bowled superbly, from 8 across she went on to win with some style  21-10, a tremendous achievement. It looks as though Bill Shackleton has  coached another great asset for the C team. I am forever grateful.
The skipper is also more than grateful to all the  team for getting him out of the  waste  matter.
Thanks again for another great day at the office

28 April 2012 - League- home
Myrtle Park C v Black Swan B (home)
Myrtle C had another  tremendous win against the very  strong and experienced Black Swan B side in the Park this afternoon,  winning 17-13. With five winners each it was down to the aggregate score,  which Myrtle won by 20 points,181-161. Great wins for David Earl 21-8,  Jack Balmforth 21-9 Carol Royston 21-13, and Matt Dickerson 21-13 against  very strong opponents. But top of the shop yet again, was Denise Kelt with  a fabulous win against the very experienced, and former first division  bowler Dave Lickley. Denise again did it the hard way by coming back from  12-4 down to win 21-13 a tremendous result.
Tony Allen and Malcolm Waite were very unlucky just  to get edged out at the business end of their games by 19, and 20  respectively.
Sue Cook making her debut for the team held her end  up in going down to 7 valuable points. Ralph Norton playing his last game  for sometime due to an impending operation was edged out to 16, and Mike  Wilson to 14.
Well done to all, another great day at the office.

 21 April 2012 - League- home
Myrtle C had a tremendous win against Idle B in the  park yesterday, totally reversing the disappointing loss at Dacre the week  before by beating Idle 27-3.
With nine winners it is difficult to single out  individuals, however Ken Pollard certainly got proceedings off to a great  start with a win to 5, Ralph Norton playing his first game of the season  continued by winning to 14. They were single figure wins also for Matt  Dickerson and Mike Wilson, but top of the shop for me was the outstanding  performance of Denise Kelt, being 16-6 down, and beating herself over it,  she rallied round and came back to win, even after being all but 17 down,   a tremendous performance.
The only person to dip out yesterday was Geoff  Holland who despite playing well, unfortunately lost out at the business  end of his game against a very good opponent.
 Well done to all.

14 April 2012 - League- away
Myrtle Park C v Dacre  (away)
Myrtle C has a disappointing first away match in  Division 3 losing 27-3 at Dacre.  With only one winner in Jack  Balmforth points were hard to come by.  David Earl,Tony Allen, and  Carol Royston were very un-lucky not to win their games losing out at the  business end 19,19, and 20 respectively, if only they had won through, we  could have perhaps posted a reasonable score, but not to worry there is  always next weeks match.

7  April 2012 - League - home
The C team playing their first league match at home  faced  a very strong Yeadon Park B team and finished up with a very  creditable 5 winners , but lost the match 18-12. The best win came from  Matthew Dickerson  beating  Frank Baker 21-19 who last season  played for  Yeadons A team. Another excellent performance came from Malcolm Waite  beating the very experienced Val Grace 21 -15. Ken Pollard had a fine win  against David Baldwin 21-15 and there were good wins also for David Earl  over Pat Appleyard 21-20 and Geoff Holland 21-19 against Gladys Robinson.
This was a very creditable effort from the C team who  will probably not come up against a stronger team all season.

This was the c team's first foray into the dizzy  heights of division 3 against a very strong Yeadon Park team. We acquitted  ourselves well with 5 winners and one near miss. Denise Kelt just missed  out at 19-21 and Matthew Dickerson , David Earl and Geoff Holland had very  close matches all  managing to win. Carol played Michael Stocks  who was  very strong and the score did not reflect the match. This was not a bad  start and we hope to improve in the weeks to come
