Myrtle Park Crown Green Bowls Club
provides a friendly but competitive environment to play our great game of crown green bowls. Myrtle Park are an ever growing club and we run the following teams for you
to satisfy your competitive spirit.
Captained for many years by the mercurial Michael Upton who represented Yorkshire Parks over 100 times. In 2013, Michael resigned and his son, David
stepped in to take the reigns. Runners up in 2012 by a solitary point, Myrtle will be aiming to regain the title in 2016.
Captained by our Chairman, Cliff Dennis. Cliff has been the B Team Captain for at least the last 7 years and probably longer. The B Team came very close to being the only B Team to
have graced Division 1 in 2012 but just lost out on the final day of the season. Cliff will be mustering his troops for another attempt at reaching the promised land in 2016
2013 was a season which had the team fighting against relegation from Division 3. Ably led in the second half of the season by Brenda Minney, the team stayed up fairly comfortably in the
end. This is no mean feat for the C team who are regularly playing A and B Teams in the division. With a new captain, Mick Cook in place for 2016 can the C Team be challenging?
Monday A (Bradford League)
the team rwin the 2nd Division title to regain their place in the top flight in 2016 after being relegated in 2013 following the fight up through the preceding seasons from Division 6. 2016 should see us
consolidate our top flight status under the guidance of captain, Pete Hepworth
Mike Wilson led the team to the Division 6 title in the teams first season in the league. Since then, Carol Royston has been at the helm. In
that time they have worked their way up from Division 6 to Division 3. Holding their own last season, Carol will be rallying her team for another successful season.
Tuesday` Pairs A
After doing the League and Cup double in 2009, the team have struggled to recapture that form. Irene Bird has been the captain for the last 5 seasons.
Tuesday Pairs B
Geoff Holland has done a sterling job as captain of the B Team for the last 3 years. Despite struggling to make an impact in Division 2, the team approach every game with a determination
to enjoy the game. 2016 sees new captain, Rachael Slater taking over the reigns. The club will be supporting and wishing her well her in her first captaincy role.
Eric Holmes took over the captaincy in 2012 in the teams' 2nd season in the league. After gaining promotion as champions in 2012, the team were looking really strong halfway through the
season. The team dropped a little bit of form and finished runners up to Farsley. Eric will be aiming to take the champions spot in 2014
Tony Allen takes control of the Vets B Team in 2016 hoping for a successful campaign afte a difficult 2015. However, the B Team is primarily to give up and coming bowlers chance to gain
valuable experience at league bowling situations so results aren't as important.
Guy Greene has taken the captaincy role for 2016 for the Wednesday A Team. Finishing runners up in 2015 behind a very strong Ilkley team was no disgrace. Guy will be aiming to push them a
bit closer in 2016
2013 was the 1st year in the league for the team. Placed in Division 2, the team performed admirably under the guidance of Cliff Dennis to finish a very creditable 6th. Cliff will be
aiming for the team to be there or thereabouts in the promotion places in 2016
